Samsung Unveils Galaxy Music Android Smartphone

Samsung has unveiled a new smartphone that runs Android 4.0 called the Galaxy Music. Samsung says that the mobile phone has a dedicated music key that provides fast access to the music player with a single press. The mobile phone operates on HSDPA, HSUPA (900/2100 MHZ) and EDGE/GPRS (850/900/1800/1900 MHZ) networks.

The specifications show a three-inch QVGA resolution TFT display, and a three megapixel fixed focus rear camera with no flash. That's a very small screen by today standards with low resolution indicating that this device is probably going to be inexpensive and aimed at entry-level smartphone users. The phone does support video playback and can record video at WVGA resolution.

It has a 3.5 mm headphone port and supports multiple audio formats. The smartphone has an integrated FM tuner with RDS technology and uses the Samsung Touchwiz user interface. Since the smartphone runs Android, it has access to Google Mobile services including the Google Play store, Gmail, and others.

The Galaxy Music has integrated GPS, integrated speakers, and Bluetooth 3.0 technology. It also has integrated Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct support, and has an accelerometer, digital compass, and proximity sensor. Internal storage is 4 GB with 512 MB of RAM. A microSD slot is available supporting up to 32 GB of additional storage space. We're taking these specifications with a grain of salt. It appears that Samsung copied these over from the Galaxy Beam because the spec sheet lists a nine-lumen integrated projector that is obviously not on this device. If one specification is wrong, others could be as well.
