Roku Amazon VOD Is In Beta, Could Come With YouTube Access
Word from the Roku forums is that the company has begun a private beta of their new Amazon Video-on-Demand (VOD) service. The update, which is believed to be included in version 2.0, will also seemingly bring YouTube access, at least according to this screengrab, where the YouTube logo is seen to the right of the Netflix logo.
Places in the private beta are currently all taken, and Roku are keeping quiet on when the eventual firmware upgrade that adds the Amazon access will be released. The last update, version 1.5, was released in late December 2008.
There's also still no word on is whether the Amazon VOD service will be offering solely standard-definition content, or HD content. The option was tipped to be coming to TiVo devices back in December, but later denied.
