Philips 901F 55" OLED TV Features Built-In Ambient Lights

Philips is launching its first OLED television, and it comes with beautiful built-in ambient lights called "Ambilight." The TV boasts a bunch of different features, including an OLED panel with a wide range of colors and the Perfect Pixel Ultra HD engine powering things. The combination of features ultimately results in a 3800ppi performance index, eclipsing most other televisions currently available.

First up is the most notable aspect of Philips' new TV — the built-in ambient lights that illuminate the area around the TV. If that's not to your tastes, though, there's a lot to like about the 901F beyond that. Being that it is an OLED tv, you'll get some perks over LCD TVs, including very dark black levels and a wide color gamut — this Philips model has a 99% DCI-P3 WCG.

Says Philips, the Perfect Pixel Ultra HD engine is able to process 4 billion pixels, resulting in a TV where every pixel is monitored and adjusted for things like brightness and sharpness, resulting in an overall excellent picture. Any content that isn't in 4K resolution will be upscaled, as well, to match the TV's capabilities.

The Perfect Contrast system, meanwhile, works alongside Local Contrast processor and Micro Dimming Perfect technology for precisely optimized contrast levels. There's a 17-bit color booster, intelligent color processing, and the maker's Perfect Natural motion technology. Finally, the 901F also boasts the maker's HDR Perfect standard thanks to its variety of image technologies.
