Panasonic R-Series Core i7 Ultraportable Debuts
Panasonic Japan have outed their latest notebooks, and of the multiple models perhaps the most interesting is the Panasonic "Let's Note" R-Series CF-R9JWACDR. Despite being a 10.4-inch XGA ultraportable the R9 packs an Intel Core i7-620UM vPro processor running at 1.06GHz, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, and a choice of up to 500GB HDD or 128GB SSD.
The 0.93kg notebook measures in at 229 x 187 x 29.4 mm and has integrated graphics along with WiFi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth. No optical drive, unsurprisingly, but there's a PC Card slot, SD/SDHC reader, two USB 2.0 ports and a VGA output. Panasonic reckon you'll see around 7.5hrs use from the standard 3,100mAh battery.
Options include upping the processor to a Core i7-640UM 1.20GHz chip, while other models in the new "Let's Note" range offer integrated WiMAX. No word on pricing for the R-Series, but they're expected to arrive in Japan on February 17th.
