Palm Pre 2 Shows Up On French Carrier SFR's Website, Reveals 1GHz Processor
The questions swirling around the upcoming unveiling of the Palm Pre 2, or Mansion (or something else entirely) haven't been about whether or not the device exists, but what the features would be. What would be the defining characteristic of the next webOS-based device, that would make the customers fall in line for its release? Well, according to French carrier SFR, it looks like the Palm Pre 2 is certainly coming, and it could indeed be packing a punch.
The device, without a picture worth looking at, showed up on SFR's website. And while a (good) picture would have been the icing on the cake, we will have to be happy with the scant amount of details that followed. According to SFR, the Pre 2 will have a 1GHz processor under the hood, and feature 512MB of RAM. It will also have the same overall design elements as the previous webOS devices, but it will feature a "flatter" screen.
But, that's not all. SFR notes that one of the stand-out features of the new device will be it's mobile Operating System, webOS 2.0. And, one of those new features will be Push. This new ability will work with other applications, like Facebook, and allow for push notifications from wall posts, events, messages, and even Facebook Chat. There's no confirmation from Palm at this point, or HP, so right now we'll just have to take it with a grain of salt, but it's certainly interesting.
