Nils Voelker "One Hundred And Eight": Who Says CPU Fans & Trash Bags Aren't Art? [Video]

Ever wanted your living room wall to look like the inner lining of a lung?  If so, you need to talk to Nils Voelker: his latest project, called "one hundred and eight", takes 108 garbage bags and then uses 216 computer-controlled CPU cooling fans to selectively inflate and deflate them.  The resulting wall-mounted installation is bizarrely hypnotic.Video demo after the cut

Each bag gets two fans – one to pump it up with air and one to suck it out again – and they respond surprisingly quickly.  That allows the wall installation to cycle smoothly through various preset animations, giving the impression of breathing, waves, moving sections and more.

We're not entirely sure what Nils' motivation was, but one hundred and eight is certainly eye-catching.  Now all he needs to do is hook it up to Twitter and use it as a massive, strange and gloriously unwieldy way to show tweets.
