Nikon D700 DSLR Promo Material Leak Rumors
Documents claimed to be pre-announcement promotional material regarding Nikon's new D700 DSLR camera have shown up, looking pretty crumpled, at Photography Bay. As rumors go, this one seems to have legs; consensus opinion is that both the images and the copy are highly believable. If it's all true, we now know that the D700 is an FX Format 12.1-megapixel body using Nikon's EXPEED image processor.
Further details include 14-bit A/D conversion and 16-bit image processing, both of which are applied to both RAW files and images saved as JPEGs. The body is made from magnesium alloy and the D700 is compatible with Nikon's existing MB-D10 Battery Grip.
An announcement about Nikon's new range – of which the D700 will likely be a part – is expected at Photokina 2008. The show, held in Cologne, Germany in September, is also expected to see the D80's replacement, believed to be the D90, unveiled.
