MobiTV Says Size Does Matter, For Mobile TV Viewing Anyway
MobiTV has announced that it gathered data during the World Cup from viewers who watched the matches on mobile TV devices and discovered that size does matter when it comes to screens for mobile TV watching. The company also took the opportunity to tout the fact that during the World Cup its servers had 100% uptime.
According to the firms data the larger the screen was on a user's device, the more likely they were to watch mobile TV. Users with a 5-inch screen watched an average of 118.2 minutes, 4-inch devices logged an average of 102.2 minutes, 3-inch devices had a 67.4 minute average, and 2-inch screen devices had an average of 61.1 minutes watched.
The data also looked at the number of minutes viewed per platform and Android was the highest with 125.7 minutes per viewer. The iPhone had 77.8 minutes per viewer with Blackberry devices at 65.4 minutes per viewer. LA was the area with the highest adoption rate at 12.9%.
