iPort Uses iPad And iPod Touch As In-Wall Touchscreens
Back during CES we got our first glimpse at the wall mounts for the iPod touch from a company called iPort. The point of the docks was use the iPod touch as a wall controller for a music system or other home automation task.
The company has announced a pair of new wall mounts for the iPad and the iPod touch. The mounts are the CM100 and the CM2000. The CM100 is for the touch and lets the user put the touch in the wall for control of a music system and to play the music back through a connected music system in the home. The CM2000 does the same thing for the iPad.
The mounts can be put in the wall in either vertical or horizontal modes. These are cool and if you have a home automation system that you control from your iPod or iPad these mounts are likely a cheaper way to get an in-wall touchscreen than going with the in-wall touchscreen options that most home automation brands offer. The CM100 sells for $250 and the CM2000 costs $499 with both units available now.
