Google Play Movies & TV Update: Material Design And Second-Screen

Watching movies or TV via Google Play just got a bit prettier, and lot more useful. An update, rolling out today, brings Google's Material Design to the app, and adds a bit of second-screen functionality. Streaming movies to your Nexus Player or Chromecast might just give you some info about what you're watching, like which actors are involved or what that song playing is. If you're the kind of person who's mind wanders a bit during a movie, this update will bring you back into focus a bit.

Visually, you'll get that Material Design uptick you've been drooling over for some time. Bigger images, brighter colors, and bolder effects take center stage. If anywhere, Material Design is fantastic in a media app, and right at home with Play Movies & TV.

The second-screen info isn't available for any movie, but it's there. Google says you'll have to look for an "Info Cards" badge on the movie or TV show page.

Google also updated their "Watch Now" tab to make "the experience of finding a movie as pleasant as watching the movie itself". You'll see more recommendations, and even trailers, right inside the app.

It's a tidy update, and the Material Design refresh is great, but does it entice you to use Play Movies & TV? Tell us in the comments section below!
