Gemei GM2000 eReader Gives You Color Or E-Ink Options

When it comes to eReaders, you probably already have your favorite picked out. Either that, or you've just completely passed over the market and decided on something else, like a tablet. But if, by a slim margin, you're still waiting for your perfect device, then maybe this new model, the GM2000 from Gemei, will fit the bill.

First, let's talk about the options in display. You can either choose from a 7-inch color display with a resolution of 800 x 480, or a 6-inch E-Ink display with a resolution of 800 x 600. Strangely enough, that's where the differences end, so let's just go ahead and move onto the similarities. Both models will give you the option to output 1080p videos through an HDMI cable. It also supports a plethora of video formats, like H.263, H.264, VC-1, RMVB, MKV, and FLV amongst others.

As far as text files go, you can fully expect support for .TXT, PDF, UMD, CHM, EPUAB, as well as compressed ZIP files. Both models have 4GB of internal memory out of the box, but you will be able to expand that with an external memory card, up to 32GB. It was announced for only 799 Yuan, or about $120 here locally. Unfortunately, no word on if this will actually make an official appearance in the States, but if you're really interested in picking one up, you can probably get it imported. Plus, for only $120, that's not a bad deal at all.
