Dish Network Says Hopper 3 Is World's Most Advanced DVR
Dish Network's third-generation Hopper 3 DVR is now available to its subscribers. This DVR brings with it an "enhanced 4K experience," according to Dish, as well as other notable features like support for up to seven TVs at once and 16 overall tuners. Soon enough, Dish also plans to integrate Netflix's library of videos into its search results.
The Hopper 3 is, according to Dish Network, the most advanced DVR currently available. The DVR is offered with some 4K content already loaded, including titles from Sony, with Netflix 4K content inbound soon. The DVR decodes and outputs 4K video to applicable televisions. As well, the 16 tuners allow shows to be streamed in several rooms at once, as well as multiple simultaneous recordings and remote viewing.
In addition, the Hopper 3 DVR can support up to half a dozen Joeys, making for up to seven TVs being supported at once. The newest Hopper model works with various Joey models, including the 4K Joey, Wireless Joey, and regular Joey.
Joining the aforementioned upcoming Netflix integration into universal search results, users will be able to search for specific shows and movies and see results from whatever options are available, including recording, future airings, Netflix results, and VOD. There's also a Sports Bar Mode inbound which will bring a 4K multi-channel view option for watching a few programs at once.
