Automobiles, Off-Grid Solar Power, RV Living
- Ron began working on cars with his dad in the 1970s.
- In 2022, he installed an off-grid solar power system on his RV.
- He and his wife travel the country in their travel trailer.
Experience
Ron's lifelong obsession with all things mechanical led to 36 years in the aerospace industry, where he worked to build parts for commercial airliners, business jets, military aircraft, the space shuttle, and the International Space Station. This long career culminated with a 14-year stint as a technical skills trainer, where he found a passion for teaching that ultimately led to the discovery of freelance writing. Ron's wide range of interests resulted in published articles covering topics such as automobile repair, home improvement, recreational vehicles, and grilling the best steak. When his employer transitioned Ron's work to another country, he sold his house and began the RV lifestyle. However, staying in campgrounds and RV parks proved limiting. The off-grid power system allows dispersed camping in remote National Forest sites, especially in the western states.
Education
Ron completed the two-year machinist program at Northeast Area Vo-tech while in high school, then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in biology from Rogers State University and a Master of Science in business management from Southern Nazarene University.
