ASUS Confirms Eee Pad Transformer 3G And Slider Due August
ASUS has confirmed that the first of its 3G-enabled Eee Pad Transformer tablets will arrive in August, with availability in the UK. At the same time, the ASUS Eee Pad Slider will also launch in the UK, offering 10-inches of Honeycomb in a slightly different form-factor.
ASUS had previously tweeted that the Eee Pad Slider was "coming soon" but gone no further in specifying a release date. Interestingly, there are rumors of a second version of the Slider, using Intel's Atom Z670 processor rather than the Tegra 2 inside the officially announced model.
As far as we're aware, though, the Slider headed to the UK in August will indeed have the NVIDIA dual-core it was announced with back at CES 2011 in January. We grabbed some hands-on time with a prototype shortly after the show, and while it lacks the boosted battery life of the Transformer, the overall package is a little lighter and might appeal to those committed to QWERTY.
