Archos 70b Android Ereader Up For Pre-Order In Europe
Archos' 70b Android-based ereader has gone up for pre-order in Europe, with France the first country to get the 7-inch touchscreen device. Priced at €99.99 ($131), the Archos 70b is expected to ship sometime between the end of December and before January 7 2011; it has a WVGA resolution display – capable of video playback as well as showing ebooks – along with WiFi b/g and 4GB of onboard storage.
There's also an SD card slot for up to 16GB of extra capacity, stereo speakers and a USB port. Battery life is tipped at up to 10 hours of ebook reading, 6 hours of video or 18 hours of music with the screen turned off.
The same model passed through the FCC earlier this month, so there's a fair chance we could be seeing the Archos 70b make a debut on American shores as well. That filing billed it as having support for the Adobe DRM used in the Google eBookstore (which is currently US-only), so it would certainly fit in there.
