Apple says the talks with Universal Music are still ongoing - there is no standoff

We reported yesterday on the standoff between Universal Music and Apple over their upcoming contract renewal. Apple is now denying that there is any standoff.

According to an Apple spokesman they "are still negotiating with Universal, their music is still on iTunes and their not re-signing is just not true." That is certainly good news, since Universal is one of the biggest music corporations in the world.

Steve Jobs is a very influential man, I'm sure that he'll be able to find some way to settle the negotiations without an issue. After all, Apple managed to get Cisco to let them use the iPhone trademark even though they went ahead and announced the product's launch before getting consent.
