Amazon Rewarding Android Developers With $50 Towards AWS

Looks like Amazon is really ramping up its Android efforts in preparation for a tablet launch by offering a new incentive to developers. Starting today, the online retailer will be giving a $50 voucher for Amazon Web Services (AWS) to Android developers who submit an app to the Amazon Appstore.

Amazon's AWS offers a variety of cloud-computing services and forms the backbone of a large portion of online businesses. For developers, the AWS offers access to a cloud solution and other services for building and deploying apps, including for social, gaming, media, and business. To be eligible, developers will have to register to be a member of the Amazon Appstore for Android.

However, the offer will be available for a limited time and runs until October 15 November 15. It sure seems like a move to beef up the Amazon Appstore ahead of launching the 7-inch Amazon Kindle Tablet, rumored for a November release. During hands-on time with the slate, it was noted that Amazon ran its own fork of Android on the tablet and didn't offer access to Android Market, but had deep integration with Amazon's own services.
