Roundme: a spherical VR community for iPhone

The creators at Verdom IT Projects have updated an app that, up until now, was only sort of immersive. This app was and is called Roundme, and it's just been given a new version fully prepared for virtual reality for the iPhone. How might you use this app with the iPhone to create a virtual reality experience, you might ask? With Google Cardboard, of course. While this app is not yet available for Android, Roundme is prepared to be a fully functional virtual reality tour experience - and community - for the iPhone.

Opportunity rover shows its age with double amnesia event

In Mars news today, NASA has reported their Opportunity rover to be having a second bit of amnesia in so many weeks. This event is affecting the machine's flash memory banks, and scientists had, after the first incident, attempted to bypass the faulty bank. The first event happened back on March 20th, and another event happened on the 25th. NASA scientists suggest that they're disappointed at the second occurrence, but not surprised. Another memory reformat may be just the ticket to get this machine back in order.

Should you give Ubisoft a break on Assassin’s Creed Unity?

Should you give Ubisoft a break on Assassin’s Creed Unity?

This week is not a great one for Ubisoft. They've been hit relatively hard for their slightly lackluster release of Assassin's Creed: Unity, with reviewers finding the game less than perfect in some cases and downright unplayable in others. But what if Ubisoft had waited? What if they delayed again - past the two weeks delay they'd noted back in August? At what point does it make sense to release a product that's unfinished? At what point does a development team have to stop and release?

Assassin’s Creed Unity issues: Ubisoft blames AMD [UPDATE: Ubisoft recants]

It's not been a great couple of days for Ubisoft. Assassin's Creed Unity was put on sale a full 12 hours before the review embargo was lifted, reviews were less than positive, and there've been several reports of graphics glitches in-game for both the console (PS4, Xbox One), and PC versions of the game. Today Ubisoft has responded to a couple of complaints, suggesting in one case that "graphics performance" could be "adversely affected by certain AMD CPU and GPU configurations." Ubisoft appears to be suggesting this performance hit is only present on PCs, not necessarily Xbox One or PS4.
