Apple bans selfie sticks at WWDC 2015

Apple bans selfie sticks at WWDC 2015

With tickets for WWDC in such high demand, it's no surprise that developers might want to share the news of their attendance with their friends. Apple is all for selfies, it turns out, but just as long as they're not being taken with a selfie stick, with the WWDC 2015 attendance policy specifically calling out the opinion-splitting accessories - and, in fact, any monopod-like device which does a similar thing - as being banned from the event.

Google I/O registration is open; here’s what you need to do

Google’s annual Developers conference, Google I/O, is happening in in late May. Though you’ve got plenty of time before you need to be in San Francisco, registration for the event opens today (actually about an hour ago!). In the past, you’d be scrambling to get yourself a ticket, but those days are gone. Rather than the stampede it once was, the event invitations are now lottery-based, which at least eases server strain. If you want to attend, here’s what you need to do.

TRON hands-on: Videogame History Museum and ATARI at GDC

Before events began this morning in San Francisco for GDC 2015, we got the opportunity to have a peek at a vintage piece of equipment. This is TRON, the arcade video game made by Disney and Bally/Midway for the release of the motion picture event of the same name. Seeing this machine sitting amongst other classic games, prepared for attendees to play at will - my, what a treat. This and other ATARI-related pieces of history have been prepared by the Videogame History Museum for a special exhibit this week at GDC.

Report: ‘Android Pay’ coming to Google I/O

At Google I/O in May, we’re likely going to see a lot of software-centric things for the crowd of Developers packed into Moscone West in San Francisco. Though it’s all about the Devs, Android users will still get insight on what’s in the pipeline. Part of the keynote and overall discussion will likely surround Google Wallet, which recently found its footing with carriers as Google acquired ‘technology’ from Softbank. A new report details that Google Wallet may soon have company in the form of Android Pay.

TwitchCon 2015 revealed as September-based gaming convention

This afternoon officials at Twitch Weekly released the first news of TwitchCon. This is a convention based on Twitch specifically, centered on the idea of sharing gaming and gameplay. How will this convention work? We're not entirely sure the people at Twitch know, really. This event will take place in September of this year - and no ticketing or pre-orders or anything like that has been revealed as of this time. There's an email portal - but that's about it. It's about gaming. Gaming with video!

Google I/O 2015 will be held on May 28, 29

Google has announced the dates for their upcoming annual Developers conference, Google I/O. Those interested in attending or otherwise checking the event out via a remote location will want to set aside the 28th and 29th of May. If you’re going to be there, nothing has changed; Google I/O is still being held at Moscone West in San Francisco, so Developers should probably book hotels as soon as they can. Registration isn’t open just yet, but goes live in just over a month.
