This week at the 2013 New York International Auto Show we've had the opportunity to have a hands-on experience with the next-generation Buick Intellilink infotainment system. This system has been revealed as coming with the 2014 LaCrosse as well as the 2014 Regal, both vehicles working with nearly identical implementations of infotainment and media playback throughout. It all begins on an 8-inch touchscreen display that sits front and center of the vehicle, able to be accessed by the driver or the copilot with ease.

GMC announces IntelliLink for smartphone connectivity

GMC has announced a new system that will first be seen in the 2012 GMC Terrain SUV. The system is called IntelliLink and is designed to connect the drivers smartphone to the vehicle entertainment system and to provide voice-activated control of the audio system. IntelliLink allows voice commands to start a phone call, change the radio station, and to stream Internet radio. Drivers can even use their voice to control an iPod.

Buick adds AWD to 2014 Regal

Buick has added AWD to the Regal and Regal GS, with the luxury sedan automatically switching to all-wheel drive both in the snow and ice, or when pushing hard. The system, which runs through an active Haldex module to push power to the rear wheels, can actually switch drive from front to back, or from one side of the Regal to another, with GM adding the ability to target a specific wheel if that's the one with the most grip.

This morning, we reported on a study by the Texas Transporation Institute, which claimed that the hands-free techology in some vehicles that allows drivers to use their gadgets without taking their eyes off the road are still as dangerous as manually firing off a text message.
