Beyonce album Target store skip enlivens digital media war

Beyonce album Target store skip enlivens digital media war

If the fact that Target announced that they wont be carrying Beyonce's 2013 self-titled album weren't enough, the writing on the wall should be. Here we're seeing another big push in the war waged between artists, record labels, and those that would stand to lose profit at the hands of the oncoming digital revolution. While the release of Radiohead's "In Rainbows" had the record industry in a tizzy with its "pay whatever you want" model, Beyonce's "release as a surprise to iTunes first" model seems to be taking retail stores out a whole new door.

Beyonce will have to face $100+ million video game lawsuit

After Beyonce pulled out of a deal to do a dance-themed video game, she was served with a $100+ million lawsuit from the video game company that struck the deal. She had applied to have the suit thrown out, but today a Manhattan judge decided that the request was "meritless," which means the suit will go forward. Beyonce will now either have to settle or have her day in court.

Beyoncé surprises the world with digital-first self-titled album

Beyoncé surprises the world with digital-first self-titled album

There might be yet another entertainment industry paradigm shift afoot, and Beyoncé is going to be there. Just as Kickstarter paved the way for games and even films to be made sans traditional publishers, Beyoncé has just made something almost impossible, or at least unforeseeable, happen. She has just released a complete album, in digital format first, without the usual pre-release marketing stunts, and, more surprisingly, without anyone even hearing about it until it launched.

Added to both iTunes 11.1 and iOS 7, each of which was released earlier today, iTunes Radio takes on Pandora and Spotify Radio with themed streaming music supported by one video advert each hour, along with three additional audio adverts every 15 minutes.

“M&M’s” most-trended search term on Google during Super Bowl

This year's Super Bowl seemed like it was all about the commercials and the halftime show, and it turns out that the top two trending search results on Google during the big game had something to do with both, at least in the US. "M&M's" topped the list at number one, while "Beyonce" came in at number two. Unsurprisingly, "Baltimore Ravens," "San Francisco 49ers," and "Colin Kaepernick" rounded out the top five.

Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 and 6020 rugged digicams get tap-control

Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 and 6020 rugged digicams get tap-control

Someone warn Beyonce: Olympus' latest Stylus Tough digicams reckon they're the world's fiercest.  The new Olympus Stylus Tough-8010 and Stylus Tough-6020 each pack 14-megpixel sensors, 5x wide-angle optical zooms and 2.7-inch sunlight-visible LCD displays, but the real headline grabbing features are the shockproofing, waterproofing, crushproofing and freezeproofing.  Unlike Beyonce (we're guessing), the two point-and-shoots can withstand 220 pounds of direct pressure.
