It seems that the folks that run around testing out unreleased handsets can’t resist taunting those of us that don’t get to see the devices until they launch. Often we catch little glimpses of the devices in spy photos and in benchmark databases as well. The GLBenchmark database has offered up some goods on a new version of the Asus Padfone. Qualcomm next-gen Snapdragon MSM8960 detailed: LTE, CPU & GPU boost, more

Qualcomm has outed the first in its next-generation Snapdragon family, the MSM8960, a dual-core chipset with around 5x the performance of the original Snapdragon, 4x the graphics performance, and an integrated multi-mode modem supporting both 3G and 3G LTE. Expected to being sampling in 2011, the MSM8960 will be built on 28nm processes, and use 75-percent less power than the first-gen Snapdragons.

If you're tired of waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active to come to Verizon, Kyocera has your back. The device known as Kyocera Hydro Elite brings on a 4.3-inch display at 720p with an 8 megapixel camera at its back and a front-facing camera suitable for video chat. The whole unit is rated for water immersion of up to 3.28 feet of water for around 30 minutes - not that you'd be leaving it in the drink that long - that's a real-deal IPX7 rating, mind you.

Announced with no small amount of fanfare (and hyperbole from Nokia CEO Stephen Elop) the new Windows Phone borrows Nokia's photography tricks from the notably-niche 808 PureView of 2012, refining it with Microsoft's OS and a more streamlined form-factor to make an attempt at the mass-market. GSM Moto X spills with early processor power test [UPDATE]

This afternoon two rather up-close-and-personal videos have appeared showing the Motorola smartphone Moto X, the following involving a CPU/GPU test which shows a bit about this machine's innards. What we're told here by the user leaking the smartphone (once again) is that this smartphone works with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core SoC - but what we're able to see quite clearly in the tests he runs is that this is merely an upgraded MSM8960 with an Adreno 320 GPU, meaning it's one step above the Motorola RAZR HD, but still below the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4.

Here in the weekend days before Google I/O 2013, the company's big developer conference for the year, two new clues leading to a new era in Motorola-made Android smartphones have been added to story called X Phone. The device in question has appeared as an AT&T-supported smartphone in the FCC this weekend as well as in benchmark test results on a publicly viewable archive. There are two HTC smartphones headed to the market in the next few weeks, the First of which is called the HTC First - fully equipped with Facebook Home for you social networking fanatics. The other is one that's not been fully recognized is an iteration of the HTC experience with nearly the same specifications of the HTC First, this time called the HTC M4 - aka the HTC e1. The thing is, though, that the HTC e1 is already on the market in China, while the HTC M4 (code name similar to the HTC One's "M7") might never reach the public.
