18 Short Creepy Films To Watch Before Halloween
Halloween is 18 days away (if you're counting today), and that means if you haven't started carving pumpkins and watching horror movies yet, now is the time to get started. Life is busy, and full-length movies aren't always an option. Fortunately, the Internet is packed full of short horror flicks that'll only take up ten or so minutes of your time. In the spirit of efficiency, we've sorted through a bunch of them and plucked out 18 short movies for your October enjoyment.
1. French Doors
Don't like gore, unnecessary jump scares, or cheesy premises? Then you'll love French Door, and by love we mean you'll probably squirm uncomfortably and maybe start closing the curtains more often.
2. 2AM: The Smiling Man
If you've read the creepypasta, you need no introduction, and if you haven't, we recommend you read it before watching the short film it inspired.
3. Thresher
If you like your horror with a dose of science fiction, look no further than Thresher, the story of a man locked in a different dimension.
4. Cargo
On the flip side, if you prefer your horror with a dose of heartbreak, Cargo is right up your alley.
5. Attic Panic
Between this and the terrible Annabelle movie, you probably won't be going to any storage lockers during the night time hours any time soon.
6. Whistler
Don't watch this if you're a bird lover.
7. Charlie
Being home alone at night, deleting a chain-letter — all things you should avoid before watching this film.
8. The Killing Joke
Proof a clown can scar you for life without ever laying a finger on you.
9. Mama
This is a short film that inspired the feature length movie by the same name; it has an introduction by Guillermo de Toro, and is excellent, if not exceedingly short.
10. The Little Witch
This film is based on the storyline used by numerous writers; one that is simple but creepy, and excellent choice for those who like thrills and chills without the guts and blood of modern horror.
11. Lights Out
You've probably seen the GIF of a woman turning the lights on and off in a hallway, with a scary surprise appearing after a few tries. What you may not have known is that the GIF is a small piece of a much larger (and creepier) video. This video:
12. The Black Hole
This might not be what you'd consider horror, but it is an interesting premise, and the ending is less-than-ideal, especially if you're claustrophobic.
13. Jack
Annnnd we're back to clowns. This video is super short, but it'll get under your skin, even if you're not afraid of clowns.
14. He Took His Skin Off For Me
Speaking of skin. This is one of the longer videos on the list, and it's really, really odd. And a little bit gross. Don't watch it during or immediately before a meal. You've been warned.
15. Bedfellows
Another short and altogether disturbing video. Do you like to live on the edge? Watch this short movie while you're lying in bed.
16. Alexia
Alexia is a Spanish (with English subtitles) short horror movie — not much gore, but a lot of Facebook. Which of the two is worst is up to you.
17. White With Red
Another short film inspired by a popular creepy pasta — only, in this case, if you haven't read it, don't. Just watch this fine take on it to fully appreciate the surprise.
18. Alma
And, finally, a nice animation to wind down. Happy Halloween!
